Can you spend the winter in Corfu? Yes – if you choose the right place. Many of the island's resorts close in November. Corfu Town does not. The town is alive all year: cafés, markets, shops, concerts and the Old Town with its Venetian lanes stay open.
To be honest
In winter nobody swims in the sea in Corfu – the water is too cold. What you get instead: mild days, empty lanes, sunshine on the Liston, long strolls, olive groves and a town that in summer you can hardly see for all the visitors.
Working at the house
Internet: 100 Mbps fibre, a work desk and a warm house. Four bedrooms mean one room to sleep in, one to work in and one for visitors. Washing machine and tumble dryer in the house, a full kitchen, a safe and free parking. The house is about 10 minutes by car from the airport, the port and the Old Town – handy if you need to fly home in between.
Christmas and December in Corfu Town
On 12 December the town celebrates its patron saint, Agios Spyridon – one of the most important feasts on the island, with a procession through the Old Town. Then Christmas and New Year's Eve in a town that is lit up and lively, but not overcrowded.
